I just want to clarify that yesterday when I said, " I've always wanted to do a blog but I have nothing to write about." I still have nothing to write about. I didn't want anyone to think that I all of a sudden have stumbled upon an adventurous life.
I do live on Suck Creek Mountain if that is adventurous to anyone. There are about 5 different families that live on this mountain. By families I mean aunts, cousins and everyone live here. Then there are a few other families scattered through out the mountain.
There are no gas stations, restaurants, etc up here. When you get home for the evening you better hope you picked everything up at the grocery store because if you forgot an ingredient then you are cooking without it. There is Suck Creek Grocery at the bottom of the mountain. SCG is about 5 miles before the nearest gas station. They are located in an old gas station right along the Tennessee River. Yes, I do drive along the Tennessee River everyday to get home so at least I get a pretty view. Chuck says the SCG crowd is a rough one but I still ask every Monday if we can go there for karaoke. I went there three times this summer to get a 12 pack of adult beverages before heading home. The adult beverage cooler is located between the dusty chips and the worms and crickets(fishing bait). You can always sit at the bar top and have a bottle beer and they will fix you a burger. Chuck is right...the crowd is pretty rough so I usually just get my beverage and run. It's nice not to have to continue to the bottom of the mtn but I usually end up paying a $1.50 more there for a 12 pack.
Back to where I live. I currently live on Chuck's family compound. Yes, you read that correctly...family compound! To clear up questions I am often asked...no I do not have sister wives. Sometimes I wish a family compound meant having sister wives because maybe one of them could clean the house! And no I do not wear bonnets. I probably should wear bonnets though because I rarely fix my hair. My friends often joke that they will bring their own bonnets when I invite them up. We live in a house that belongs to Chuck's Uncle Claude. Behind our house is Uncle Claude's house and behind Uncle Claude's house is Uncle Tommy and Aunt Sissy. Next door is where my in laws live and they have a pool! I'm sure many of my girl friends are thinking how horrible it would be to live on a family compound. It really isn't that bad. Uncle Claude helped us a lot when I was pregnant and Chuck was just working at Red Lobster. My in laws are always here to watch Camden so I can go to school. They have also been a tremendous help! It's a good thing I love Chuck's family! I just wish my sister-in-law was also located on the compound. We would craft and plan our future classrooms on a nightly basis.
I really just hate the drive and I'm not overly thrilled with the school zone here. It's a good thing that Camden is still a baby. We plan to move off the mountain in 5ish years. We found a developer that we really liked and have been to their open house. Staying here for now and making the small sacrifices allows for our first home purchase to be our dream home.
