So I'm not sure if you have heard of the wives tell of putting Vicks vapor rub on the bottom of a baby's feet. Many people have told me about how it clears babies right up when they are congested. You use adult's Vicks, put a thick layer on each foot, put socks on and put the baby to bed.
Camden is very snotty and I feel so bad for him because he coughs it up and then chokes it back down. I really wish he could just cough it up and spit it out. We do the bulb syringe and of course he hates it. I also use baby nasal spray on him and wipe his nose through out the day with boogie wipes. Boogie wipes are more effective at drying up a snotty baby than regular baby wipes because they contain saline.
This is the third time that Camden has gotten really congested. The first two times I rushed him straight to the doctor only for the doctor to listen to his lungs and send us home. She told me to just keep doing what I have been doing. She said that he is one of the unfortunate ones to catch everything that's in the air as far as pollen allergies go.
So back to the Vicks, the past two night I rubbed his little feet down and kissed him goodnight only to wake up to a still congested baby. I have been very upset that the Vicks didn't work because I was really counting on it. Then I read about it online today and found of it is only suppose to relieve night time symptoms so that baby can sleep better and if it clears it up completely then it is an added bonus. After doing the research I have more faith in Vicks now. I am sad that it hasn't cleared him up completely but I can honestly say he goes to bed and sleeps all night unlike the first night that he woke up coughing and crying every hour.
